Premise

Ranveer Singh plays the character of a Gujarati man in the movie. In an interview, the director Divyang Thakkar tells the media that the film will not only make us laugh but will also make us cry. It changes the definition of a real man and tells us who the real man is. In the film, Ranveer Singh remains a character who believes in equal rights of men and women in society and raises his voice for them. The filmmakers also try to change social thinking through this film.

The film focuses on the social cause of female foeticide. The process involves finding out the sex of the foetus and killing it if the sex comes out as female. The practice of killing girl children has been prevalent in India for many years through an act that banned the same. United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) report in 2020 found that around 4.6 crore females are ‘missing’ in Indian demography in that year. This happened mainly due to pre and post-birth sex selection practices stemming from son preference and gender inequality.

Storyline

Ranveer Singh fights for his pregnant wife throughout the film. During the process of finding out the gender, the doctors reveal her sex as female. Being the father of a girl child already, everyone expected Ranveer to bring a son into their lives. His father, the reputed sarpanch of the village, according to the hierarchy will make him the sarpanch in the next election. Ranveer’s son could take the position after he retires and therefore, his father badly wanted him to give birth to a male child. They perform various rituals to determine the gender but in the end, the doctor confirms the female gender of the foetus.

Jayesh’s parents ask his wife to abort the child but Jayesh takes her along with his daughter and escapes from the house. The sarpanch sets on a mission to find them and abort the child. But Jayesh, after taking such a huge step became a hero for all the ladies and inspired everyone.

Jayesh believes in promoting his daughter to the position of sarpanch and granting her equal rights as a man. Meanwhile, his father, with an orthodox approach in his mind, opposes the same. Also at the beginning of the trailer, when a girl complains to the sarpanch about boys harassing them after consuming alcohol, he replied back by suggesting the ban of soaps instead of alcohol. According to him, the fragrant soaps attract those boys and therefore, he shifts the blame on the girls using those soaps. Overall, the film serves as a medium to teach something to society with a touch of humour and emotion. Ranveer and Boman’s relationship as a father and son adds a laughing spark to the whole story. The trailer definitely impressed the audience, now let’s see what the movie offers to the fans.

Ranveer Singh’s Role

Ranveer posted a picture of his look from Jayeshbhai Jordaar where he stands surprised holding an unborn baby in his hand, with the umbilical cord still intact. The caption on the picture read, “Jayeshbhai ko ladka hoga ya ladki?” he also wrote, “Aapko kya lagta hai? #JayeshbhaiJordaar | @shalzp | #ManeeshSharma | @divyangt | @yrf | #JayeshbhaiJordaar13thMay.”

Ranveer in an interview expressed his love for Gujarat and its culture. He was really inspired to become a Gujarati man in Jayeshbhai Jordaar. He expects to receive immense love from Gujaratis across the world, all over again after his film “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela” wherein he played the role of a Gujarati man. Ranveer gave his best through this movie. A fan also commented on the trailer that the movie should be dubbed in Gujarati as well because of the huge fan base of Gujarati people after Ram-Leela.

Talking about the movie, he said Ranveer says, “I have been blessed and fortunate to have found remarkable scripts that have stood out and touched people. I’m grateful for them and I’m also proud of the work that I have done to bring those roles to life on screen. It has taken everything out of me but I have always believed that if I have to be the best actor-entertainer in the country, then I have to do things that no one would attempt doing.”

Lessons from the movie

A father can turn the world upside down when it comes to his children. Ranveer, playing the role of a father in Jayeshbhai Jordaar gathered many praises for nailing this role. He protects his unborn daughter from the whole world. It’s just him vs everyone. He even left his parents to bring justice to his daughter. Parents will take the extra necessary step if needed to protect their children.

Social evils, like female foeticide, deserve no place in this society. Everyone, whether it be a girl or a boy, deserves an equal opportunity to live in this world. Without a female, it becomes impossible for even a male to enter this world. Without a female, it becomes difficult to run a house or a society or say, this world too. These days, many movies release based on the concept of equality and equal rights in terms of everything. Males and females deserve equal respect and dignity in society.

A son or daughter should not be identified when the child remains in the womb. The gender of the foetus speaks nothing of the right to live for that individual. The Indian government banned this practice, after thinking about society.
