Bollywood stars rejected Blockbuster movies due to these surprising reasons you won’t believe

Bollywood has been giving us tremendous hit films for a long time but what if we tickle the cast of the films a little? Yes, you read that right. The cast we originally see in the films might have not remained the same if the initial offers were accepted by the actors. Bollywood actors rejected a few big roles in these big Bollywood movies, read the following to know more:

Sidharth Malhotra

The Gen Z handsome hunk, who made his debut in Bollywood with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year, saw his ups and downs in Bollywood. After making his first film, he signed up for a few other films as well but not all of them received applause at the box office. The actor also rejected a few good movies from Bollywood. For the movie “Race 3”, the makers offered him a role. But after Sidharth denied the role, Bobby Deol entered the plot. The viewers could’ve seen Sidharth playing the role of Yash Singh who is Anil Kapoor’s son in the movie. He also said ‘no’ to a few more movies, such as Ek Villain Returns, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, etc.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

The Bebo of Bollywood, before making it so huge in the industry, declined a few big projects in her career. Very few people are aware of the fact that Kareena was Karan Johar’s first choice for the character of ‘Naina’ in “Kal Ho Naa Ho”. Kareena turned it down because she felt her payment for the role was very less. She asked for an amount equal to Shah Rukh’s fees for the movie. Johar, obviously, declined it. Preity Zinta came in to grab the role. Kal Ho Naa Ho became the biggest grossing Indian movie that year.

Another movie Kareena missed include “Queen”, which won Kangana Ranaut, who received the role, bagged a National Award for this film. Kareena came out of” Ram Leela” 10 days before the shoot. She chose the movie “Gori Tere Pyar Mein”.

Katrina Kaif

With her dazzling beauty and shining career, the actress made some bad choices in terms of selecting movies. Before Deepika, Sanjay Leela Bhansali approached Katrina to play the role of Mastani in “Bajirao Mastani”. However, Kaif wasn’t willing to act with a junior actor (Ranveer Singh). She also refused “Ram-Leela” with the same actor, prior to this one. Sanjay, for years, wished to make this movie with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan but that wish never came true because of their brutal break-up.

The same year, the makers approached Katrina to play Naina in “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”. However, she turned down the role due to a lack of time and other commitments. Anurag Basu also offered her the role of Ileana D’ Cruz in “Barfi” but that too never worked out.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone played some of the most phenomenal roles in Indian cinema from Naina to Mastani to Rani Padmavati and whatnot. However, the actress could have achieved more if she had accepted a few offers that she rejected. Before taking Kareena Kapoor into consideration for “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, the makers asked Deepika for the same role. But the actress denied it due to some unknown reasons. Also another Salman Khan starrer “Sultan” gave Deepika another chance for Anushka Sharma’s role in the movie. But obviously, Deepika rejected it and Anushka accepted it. The actress lost both of her chances to work with the talented Salman. Also, both the movies received tremendous responses from the box office and audience.

Amitabh Bachchan

The Shahenshah of Bollywood always ruled Indian cinema with his charming looks and well-built personality. Despite his infinite hit films, the fans regret seeing him in one of the most classic films, “Mr India”. Though Anil Kapoor’s commendable acting provided complete justice to the role and the film, Amitabh also fitted the role.

Saif Ali Khan

Shahrukh and Kajol are immortalized forever in our hearts as the iconic on-screen couple — Raj And Simran. But imagine someone else romancing Simran? Can you? Of Course not. But before fitting Shah Rukh in the role, Saif Ali Khan could have made it to this role. Yash Raj Chopra offered this tremendous role to Saif but he turned it down for the dearth of time. Aditya Chopra, in fact, wanted to cast Tom Cruise in the role. But Yash Chopra felt like casting an Indian star instead of a foreign one. So, Aditya after reworking the script asked SRK to come on board. The actor after rejecting the film thrice finally accepted the role and came on board.

Shah Rukh Khan

Three of Bollywood’s biggest successes, two of which landed in Aamir Khan’s kitty, might have cast Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. But each of their protagonists – Sanjay Dutt and Aamir Khan left an impacting mark on everyone’s hearts with their performances. “Munnabhai MBBS” initially considered casting SRK in the role of the protagonist but later shifted to Sanjay Dutt because of some unknown reasons. The next in line “Lagaan” also thought of featuring Shah Rukh instead of Aamir, but again due to some unknown reasons, Aamir played the lead. The same thing happened with Aamir Khan’s “3 Idiots”. Now, it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing the role of Munnabhai, Bhuvan and Rancho/Phunsuk Wangdu.

Ranbir Kapoor

“Dil Dhadakne Do” which starred some remarkable stars in the movie, first offered the role of Ranveer Singh to Ranbir Kapoor but due to schedule conflicts, he stepped out. Kareena Kapoor, who also accepted the movie to work with her brother, too, then stepped out of the movie.

Salman Khan

“Chak De”, one of the best sports movies in Bollywood, was a huge success at the box office. Shah Rukh Khan, as the lead actor in the role of Kabir Khan, gathered enough applause to define his tremendous work. But what if Salman Khan played Kabir Khan? Yes, Shimit Amin first chose Salman Khan for this role. Salman, however, didn’t wish to explore anything outside the commercial genre and hence, rejected the role.

Another blockbuster by Shah Rukh Khan, “Baazigar”, also preferred Salman in the first place. Shahrukh made his first big hit with this movie. The makers also considered Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor before Shah Rukh but they refused it because of an anti-hero role.

Ayushmann Khurrana

Diljit Dosanj’s role in “Udta Punjab” initially planned to cast Ayushmann Khurrana but the actor was buried with other projects to hardly make any time for this one. Luckily, Bollywood, in return, received one of its most remarkable debuts.

Hrithik Roshan

Farhan Akhtar, besides acting in films, also directs them and one of his finest directorial works includes “Dil Chahta Hai”. He originally wanted to cast Akshaye Khanna as Akash (Aamir Khan), Hrithik Roshan as Sameer (Saif Ali Khan) and Abhishek Bachchan as Sid (Akshay Khanna). But things turned otherwise, and Hrithik rejected this evergreen favourite film of many.

Ashutosh Gowarikar, the director of “Swades” initially offered Shahrukh Khan’s role of Mohan Bhargava to Hrithik Roshan but he turned it down after reading the script. Hrithik found the role unsuitable for him. For Sidharth’s role in Rang De Basanti, Hrithik became the first choice. But he loved Aamir’s part more and that excited him more. Unfortunately, by then, Aamir had already taken the role and therefore, he turned this movie down.

Priyanka Chopra

The movie “Cocktail” that flipped Deepika Padukone’s career planned to have Priyanka Chopra initially but she found herself uncomfortable about playing a dark character. Also, “2 States” originally thought of featuring Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra together in the movie. But later, they cast the Gen Z actors, Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor.

Kangana Ranaut

The movie that turned the image of Vidya Balan into the minds of her fans first offered Kangana Ranaut the role. “The Dirty Picture” still remains one of the biggest regrets in Kangana’s life because this film created a sensation on the internet. The hot and bold scenes obviously contributed to the success of the film. Kangana rejected the movie for her other project “Tanu Weds Manu” which didn’t prove to be a bad choice because this film also made tremendous success at the box office.

Kajol

From a tomboy babbling college girl in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, to play a single, independent mother in “My Name Is Khan”, Kajol transformed effortlessly from one character to the next. However, she rejected the leading lady role in “3 Idiots” played by Kareena Kapoor. She felt that the role demands minimal acting and she didn’t find herself happy doing the role.

“Dil To Pagal Hai” won Karisma Kapoor a National Award, but she won this because Kajol rejected the role initially. She didn’t find this role appealing.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The Miss World 1994, Aishwarya Rai featured in just three movies when the offer for “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” knocked on her door. But the actress rejected the offer for the role of Tina because she felt she would have been ‘lynched’ if she did the film. Karan Johar also approached Urmila Matondkar and Tabu for the role.

Also, the actress was supposed to make her Bollywood debut with the Aamir Khan-starrer “Raja Hindustani”. Dharmesh Darshan offered the lead role initially to Aishwarya in this hit film. But, the actress declined the offer only to participate in the Miss India contest.
