Careers of Bollywood actors that were ruined by their partners!

“Not all that glitters is gold” – the quote is very rightly said. When we look at the stars of today, we could hardly imagine their own heartbreaks and love losses. But deep inside their perfect Bollywood lives, they faced a traumatic phase that changed their lives forever. Let’s look at the failed careers of these Bollywood actors:

Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan

The Punjabi Kudi and Pataudi Nawab, though poles apart, fell for each other when Saif made his debut. Though it was not love at first sight, Saif did put his arms around her at the first photoshoot. Saif, whose mind was all over Amrita, couldn’t stop thinking about her even after the shoot. He called her to invite her for a dinner. To which, Amrita declined and instead, called him for dinner. Despite the gap of 12 years, they fell for each other and went ahead to lock themselves in a wedded bond. The two decided to part ways after 13 years of their happy marriage. Though no official reason ever came up, rumours depicted Saif’s growing interest in Italian dancer and model, Rosa Catalona. Saif put these rumours to death in an interview and accused Amrita’s changing behaviour of the divorce.

Amrita’s career was also put at stake after this horrible chapter. She hardly featured in any popular movies for some time after the divorce. She began receiving only the role of mother.

Jennifer Winget and Karan Singh Grover

One of the most romantic couples, Jennifer and Karan worked together for a television show “Kasautii Zindagii Kay”. In 2007, they met again for “Dill Mill Gaye” when they started developing feelings for each other. During that time, Karan also divorced his wife Shraddha Nigam. After dating for three years, they decided to marry each other. The couple fell apart after a few years despite their immense love during those years. No official reason came up but several fans doubted Karan’s affair with Bipasha Basu, which he later married himself into.

After separating from Karan, Jennifer worked for a few TV shows. She did not get any Bollywood movies after the divorce.

Aarti Bajaj and Anurag Kashyap

Anurag’s first marriage with the film editor Aarti Bajaj initially began during their college days. Both fell for each other and dated for almost a decade before tying the knot. The couple got married in 2003. Aarti made a few films, such as Jab We Met, Raman Raghav 2.0, Dev D, Gulaal, and Manmarziya. After marrying each other and staying together for 6 years, differences began appearing in their lives. Constant dips in Anurag’s professional life during the beginning phase led to their separation. The couple finally got divorced in 2009. They also gave birth to a daughter, Aliyah, currently at the age of 18 years.

After announcing her separation from Anurag, Aarti hardly made a few movies. Though Anurag rose to achieve success, Aarti’s career in Bollywood seems quite opposite. Her B-town career received a setback. The actor remained unmarried to date. Meanwhile, Anurag got married again.

Kalki Koechlin and Anurag Kashyap

Anurag, back to his bachelor life, after parting ways with his former wife, Aarti, fell for another girl, Kalki Koechlin. The two initially met on the sets of the film “Dev D” and while Kashyap fell in love with the actress after their initial meet-ups, he kept his feelings to himself from her until later. He never missed any play or movie that featured Kalki and then it all gradually started becoming obvious. When Kalki came to know about Anurag’s feelings for her, she also found herself in the same position. Thus, the two got closer to each other and stayed together in 2009, in the same year, Anurag filed for divorce from his former wife. Two years down the line, Kalki and Anurag finally decided to get hitched in 2011.

The initial few months felt delightful and the two practised passionate love with each other. After the romantic phase, another episode awaited them. With time, they started seeing cracks in their relationship and their marriage became unstable. Due to their 14 year age gap and busy schedule, their relationship faced the divorce phase after 4 years of marriage.

The road down her career became a bit rough for Kalki after her divorce. She acted in some films but hardly a few of them received success.

Reena Dutta and Aamir Khan

Termed as ‘Mr Perfectionist’, Aamir Khan rightly justifies the title when it comes to his films, but the title really worked for his love life too? His love life seems no less than a Bollywood movie. From writing a love letter with blood to tying wedding knots with her only to be separated after 16 years, Aamir’s love life depicts a roller coaster ride. Aamir and Reena lived next to each other. They often used to stare at each other through their windows and then Aamir fell for Reena. He tried to reach out to her multiple times and confess his love for her. But Reena rejected him every time. According to the reports, Aamir once even wrote a love letter to her with his own blood. Soon after their dating, the two eloped and married each other in 1986. Their parents disapproved of their relationship.

Aamir and Reena faced a peaceful divorce in 2002 without any ugly spats or arguments. The ex-couple are still in a healthy relationship and also consult each other when it comes to their children. Both of them were pretty much affected by their divorce. Aamir stopped working for almost two years due to their separation. He became normal after meeting Kiran Rao after a few years, to whom he even married and further divorced her also.

Karisma Kapoor and Sanjay Kapur

The daughter of the first family of Bollywood, Kapoor khandaan, Karisma faced commendable success in terms of professional life. But when it comes to matters of the heart, she remains a bit unfortunate. From almost becoming a Bachchan wife to facing a divorce, she struggled through all of this. Karisma initially got engaged to Abhishek Bachchan but after a few months, they called it off. Karsima tied herself into an arranged marriage with the business tycoon Sanjay Kapur in 2003. After facing a few ups and downs, they announced their separation in the year 2010, followed by a divorce in 2016. Karisma didn’t indulge in acting in Bollywood after her divorce.

Honey Irani and Javed Akhtar

Javed Akhtar, the veteran superstar who could bring love alive with his magical lyrics, met Honey Irani during the shooting of “Seeta Aur Geeta”. The duo began meeting every day and talking for hours and within no time both fell madly in love with each other. With his romantic andaaz, Javed Saab proposed to Honey. Despite gaining a lot of fame during her early years, she decided to marry Javed, who hardly earned anything. They began adjusting for a bit after their marriage due to financial crunches during that time. The situation started to improve soon. The romantic fellow fell for his co-star, Shabana Azmi despite being in a married relationship. He soon broke the news to his former wife, though everyone opposed it. Honey and Javed soon drifted apart and Javed married Shabana.

Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan

Just like a usual love story, theirs also began with a coffee date. A coffee brand approached Malaika for a photoshoot and she met Arbaaz over there. After their fun and cuddly romantic dates, the couple planned their future together. After dating for around 5 years, they tied themselves into a lovely bond in 1998 with a Christian wedding and nikah. The couple stayed together for 19 years, and then parted ways in 2017. The reasons for this came out to be the extramarital interests of both the actors. After this, they hardly acted in a few films in Bollywood.

Raveena Tandon and Anil Thadani

The sensational ’90s actress of Bollywood, Raveena Tandon, though got very lucky in her Bollywood career, faced a lot of struggle in finding her love. Her “Tip Tip Barsa Paani” co-star, Akshay Kumar brought their reel romance and hot looks to real life. They got engaged in a ceremony but Akshay stayed tight-lipped about the same. He felt the fear of losing his female fans during that time. After forgiving Akshay over and over again, Raveena broke their engagement and moved ahead.

Raveena faced a tough phase of her life after leaving Akshay. She played a few roles in Bollywood films, that went hit. A few years later, when she started producing films, she met a film distributor, Anil Thadani. In 2003, Anil took the first step with a dreamy proposal on Raveena’s birthday. The two arranged for a big fat Indian wedding after a year. But after marrying him, she almost forgot her bold appearance and looks in the B-town.

These failed careers of Bollywood actors motivate us to stand up and fight against the harsh chapters of our lives. There are good times as well as bad times, these failed careers of Bollywood actors serve as an inspiration for us.
