Must watch these 8 Bollywood movies based on Self-love!

Bollywood, with its wide variety of genres, teaches us different things in different ways. They provide us with some valuable life lessons through their films. One such lesson is Self-love. Bollywood movies based on self-love have become so underrated that there is hardly any attempt by human beings to learn and love themselves. Self-love should consist of the following things:

  • Don’t compare yourself
  • Put yourself first
  • Let yourself rest
  • Speak kindly to yourself
  • Let go of past things
  • Say ‘yes’ to things you love
  • Notice the things you are proud of

Bollywood movies based on self-love inspire us to learn something from them and adapt the same. Self-love not only teaches us to love ourselves but also takes care of our mental health indirectly. Following are the top Bollywood movies based on self-love:

Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)

Probably you might find yourself surrounded by a pool of tears after watching this film. A girl leading a dull life sees life from a different perspective after she meets her new neighbour and falls in love with him. Meanwhile, the neighbour pretends to be a married man because of his fatal disease and sets her up with her best friend. This Nikhil Advani directorial with a story by Karan Johar casts Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zeinta, Saif Ali Khan and Jaya Bachchan in the lead roles. The whole movie revolves around stressing the importance of family and friends. The last scene, wherein Shahrukh lies on a deathbed, brings out the emotions of the public, bidding an emotional farewell to the character in the film.

Jiyo! Khush Raho! Muskurao! Kya Pata Kal Ho Naa Ho.

Even though Shahrukh dies in the end, he teaches everyone throughout the film to live their lives to the fullest. Even to take Preity out of her depressive and gloomy world, he constantly nags her to keep smiling and love herself. Thappad (2020)

This incident left her devastated and forced her to file a divorce. Everyone confronted her to step back and live together again but she felt the opposite and she carried on with the divorce proceedings. Meanwhile, the husband and his lawyer pressed false charges against her to stop the divorce. In the end, the husband realized his mistake and apologizes to her while parting their way through a divorce. They end the film on a happy note by becoming good friends and hoping to reunite soon.

The movie is a message for every woman going through harassment from her husband or her in-laws to stop this evil practice and raise their voices against it. This form of harassment is quite prevalent in our country and women choose to stay shut over this issue due to some fear. Women should report this behaviour as soon as possible as it gives courage to the other person to commit the same act again and again.

This film brought tears and a sense of hope at the same time to the women who face such issues. Taapsee Pannu played the lead role in this movie. She taught us the value of self-love in our lives. Around half of the women in our country sacrifice self-love to serve their in-laws and family. At times, they even face harassment in one or the other form. The woman should put herself first, and then others.

One of the best films by Aamir Khan and the son’s acting by Darsheel Safary was worth watching. The movie raised global awareness of dyslexia and created a social impact. The song “Maa” from this film still makes us emotional because the lyrics and soundtrack used very well describe the situation of the child in this film.

Duniya mein aise hi heer paida hue hai, jinhone saari duniya ka naksha hi badal diya kyunki yeh duniya ko apni alag nazariya se dekh paye.
