Kahaani (2012)

A pregnant woman, in search of her lost husband, travels down to Kolkata. When all clues lead her to nowhere, she realizes there is something more to the picture that’s hidden. After all the searches, at last, she discovers the dead body of her husband. Vidya Balan gracefully played the role of the pregnant woman. The film was made with a budget of around Rs 8 crore and grossed about Rs 104 crore at the box office. 

The Kashmir Files (2022)

The film portrays the real story of torture and injustice faced by the Kashmiri Pandits. During the Kashmir insurgency, many Pandits were killed or banished from Kashmir. The film has been released recently and is still up in the theatres experiencing house full shows. Some notable actors, like Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and others acted well in the movie. But the series of letters exchanged between the two leads to the beginning of a romantic relationship. Late Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur acted in the movie. Made on a budget of Rs 22 crore, the film was a box office success, making an entry into the Rs 100 crore club. 

Hindi Medium (2017)

Two parents, who are willing to send their daughter to a reputed school, cannot do so because of their rich financial background. To seek admission, they act like their financial condition is weak and move into a slum to reside. The movie gave some lessons regarding the education system of our country and focused on the importance of our mother tongue. Parents are ready to sacrifice everything to give their children the best care and support. The late legendary actor Irrfan Pathan delivered an outstanding performance along with Saba Qamar. Definitely, a runaway hit with box office collections of more than Rs 300 crore with a budget of around Rs 14 crore. 

Raazi (2018)

An undercover RAW agent marries herself into a Pakistani family on her father’s advice to seek some confidential information about the enemy from her in-laws. The film is based upon the novel “Calling Sehmat”, which is a true story. Alia Bhatt well-played this spy thriller role with Vicky Kaushal as her husband. Produced with a budget of around Rs 30 crore, it went on to earn almost Rs 200 crore. 

Andhadhun (2018)

Known as the best Bollywood film of the year, it is a story of a piano artist, who pretends to be blind gets himself landed into various problems as he encounters a murder scene. With his outstanding acting, Ayushmann Khurrana made the film win many national awards. Radhika Apte, his co-actor, received various awards. The film earned a whopping Rs 456 crore with a budget of Rs 32 crore. 

Secret Superstar (2017)

An ambitious young girl who is passionate about becoming a singer faces criticism from her father. Highly dedicated as she is, she secretly uploads her singing videos on the internet. Aamir Khan and Zaira Wasim were playing lead roles in the movie. The returns were around 60 times as compared to the budget of Rs 15 crore. The film won the hearts of many and almost crossed the Rs 1000 crore club. 

Stree (2018)

A comedy horror in which the people of the village, terrorized by the constant fear of the spirit of a woman who attacks men at night portrays the whole story. The whole mystery regarding this is clarified in the movie. Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor worked together in this film. The cast also included other actors too, such as Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and others. With a budget of around Rs 20 crore, the film earned around Rs 120 crore.  

Queen (2013)

An engaged couple calls off the wedding when the male fiance breaks up with the other one. She decides to go on her honeymoon alone to Paris and Amsterdam, where she discovers herself and makes a fresh start. Lisa Haydon supports the lead actress, Kangana Ranaut, in the movie. The budget of the film was Rs 12 crore, and it gave 18X returns, i.e., around Rs 222 crore. The movie supports feminism and women’s power. 

Piku (2015)

A simple and sweet story of a daughter and father’s daily life story and fights over trivial issues. This daughter-father duo goes on a road trip to Kolkata with a driver. They constantly fight over different viewpoints and ideologies in life because ageing caused her father to nag her over every issue. Amitabh Bachchan performed the role graciously with co-actors Deepika Padukone and Late Irrfan Khan. Production of the movie cost around Rs 30 crore with a return of over Rs 170 crore. 

Taare Zameen Par (2007)

The movie tells us the story of a child’s relationship with his parents. A son, who is weak in academics face criticism from his parents, who send him to a boarding school. At the school, an art teacher recognizes the child’s disease, ‘dyslexia’ which is a reading disorder. The teacher helps him recover and utilize his potential. This is probably one of the most liked films of Aamir Khan and the son’s acting by Darsheel Safary was worth watching. With a budget of over 12 crores, the movie did well and crossed the century mark. The movie raised global awareness of dyslexia and created a social impact. 

Aashiqui 2 (2013)

A tale of the love story of two singers, wherein a renowned singer falls in love with a bar singer. He supports her in accomplishing her dream of becoming a famous singer. But he, himself loses all the fame and love due to his own shortcomings. The love between both of them helped the couple overcome their problems and stay happy together by the end. Rani Mukherji did justice to the character by playing it very well as the role was difficult because of the syndrome. Produced with a budget of Rs 20 crore, it gave ten-fold returns of Rs 200 crore. Badhaai Ho (2018)

Mom (2017)

A crime thriller movie, where a mother takes revenge for her stepdaughter’s rapists. Her stepdaughter was sexually assaulted at a party and later thrown on the side of a road. When her parents found her, she was barely alive and was admitted. After gaining consciousness, her statements were declared invalid in court as she was drunk at the party. The court released the four attackers, but the mother set out to take revenge for her stepdaughter’s justice. This movie was a treat to Sridevi’s fans as this was her 300th movie and also, she appeared for the last time on the big screen before her death. Made with a budget of Rs 37 crore, the film earned around Rs 175 crore. This award-winning film was released in four languages.
