Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani celebrates its 8th glorious year in the industry today. The movie holds a special place for all its audiences as the plot is much relevant and relatable. Let’s revisit the story once again.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani revolves around the relationship between four people. Kabir Thapar aka Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor), Naina (Deepika Padukone), Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur) and Aditi (Kalki Koechlin). These young stars stand at different, however at the defining times in their respective lives. Bunny, Avi, and Aditi decide to go on an adventurous trek to the mountains in Manali. Naina joins them afterward. She is the one who experiences such thrilling things for the very first time in her life. Naina starts advancing the association with Bunny in this trip which transforms her into an entirely different persona. Also, she starts liking him gradually.

Then, all of them come to know about the scholarship that Bunny receives for the journalism course, and hence, he shifts abroad. After this, all four friends go in their own ways. After a long hiatus of eight years, they meet again at the wedding of Aditi. Ironically, today the film marks its 8th anniversary complementing the exact events of the movie. The friends meet with some fulfilled along with some unfulfilled dreams. Multiple decisions wait for them to turn their life in a specific direction. The movie starts spinning from this moment.

The movie reveals the diverse elements in their lives such as a dearth of full of life experience. -The original choice for nerdy Naina was Katrina Kaif but the director thought that Deepika suited the role better.

-It was Ayan Mukherjee’s second project after ‘Wake Up Sid’ and it had to be Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. As per reports, Ayan had said that he will cast his best friend for as long as he makes movies. So far he has kept his word whereas Ranbir’s earlier besties: Siddharth Anand and Vikramjit Singh made one film each with Ranbir and then didn’t cast him for their further projects.

-‘Devdas’ was the last Bollywood film to have hit the 50mm screens in Israel and after 11 years, ‘Ye Jawani Hai Dewaani’ was set to break that dry spell on screen. The films had subtitles in Hebrew for the local Audience there.

-Director Aayan Mukherjee wanted Ranbir Kapoor to get his ear pierced for his vivacious love story. And the Kapoor boy duly obliged.

-Madhuri Dixit’s Ghagra was included as a ‘Guest Appearance Item Song’ as she was Ranbir’s first crush. Ranbir returned the compliment by making a guest appearance in Madhuri’s Marathi film ‘Bucket List’.

-The title came from a song Ranbir’s uncle Randhir Kapoor sang in Kishor Kumar’s voice in Narendra Bedi’s 1972 ‘JawaniDeewani’. Karan Johar apparently paid a hefty amount to get the title.

-The movie was partly shot in Gulmarg, Kashmir. But for some reason, the team makers of the film passed of Gulmarg as Manali in the film.

– At 1 hour and 59 mins, this film is one of the longest ones in Ranbir Kapoor’s career. His ‘Raajneeti’ was longer, but for most critics (YJHD) was way too long with much too little story to tell. It lost quite a lot of money on release but made profits eventually through satellites and television.

-Ranbir’s troubled relationship with the late Farouq Shaikh in the movie was based on his real-life equation with his father Rishi Kapoor.

-Mahesh Bhatt was planning a massive relaunch for Aditya as a leading man in ‘Ashiqui 2’. He wanted to get him out of the second lead bracket. And ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ was the last time Aditya was seen as the second lead.

Aditi and Avi’s friendship are a mixture of love and playfulness. They are regarded as the Tom & Jerry of the group as they constantly fight and argue. She loved him but he is oblivious about her feelings

Four in One friendship: There were Various scenes in the movie that brought together these 4 different people together, especially during their trip to Manali. The Manali trip spoke about the volume of their friendship, love, and other emotions with each other. They had fun teasing and poking fun at each other but still, they remained united.
