Shahid Kapoor- Shandaar

‘Shandaar’ is a perfect example of the fact that luxurious sets, stellar cast, and grand songs amount up to nothing without a good script. Both Shahid and Alia must’ve been out of their zones while signing up for this movie. In addition, Shahid Kapoor also when asked in a Filmfare interview about the same topic he said that ‘Shandaar’ would be on top of the list of movies he shouldn’t have done followed by ‘Wah! Life ho to aisi’ and ‘Chupchupke’.

Saif Ali Khan- Humshakals

Bollywood Stars: Out of this list, The Chote Nawab also openly admits that this film was a total mistake on his part. Saif admits that he “Surrendered” himself to the makers of the film. Additionally, he stated that “The film didn’t have a script as such, it was all there in Sajid’s mind. I did whatever he asked me to do. I did the film thinking it will help me to expand my market, but obviously, it wasn’t a clever idea. I’ve been introspecting a lot and will never repeat a mistake that was ‘Humshakals’. The actor since then has not signed any such projects that he can be criticized for. His recent performance also in the OTT chat buster ‘Scared Games’ is also considered to be one of his best performances by far.

Abhay Deol- Aisha

With films like ‘Dev D’ and ‘Oye Lucky LuckyOye’ under his belt, no one expected Abhay to play the lead role in a movie like Aisha. Clearly, it was not the best choice of film for him. Not only did the film bomb at the box office but also instigated Abhay to never sign a film ever again. When asked about the film, he stated that “The film had nothing to do with Jane Austen’s Emma as it was reported. When I was shooting, I realized the film was more about clothes than actual acting”.

Ajay Devgn – Himmatwala

One of Bollywood’s most beloved actors Ajay also has a few skeletons in his closet too. Known for his intense acting and versatile range of character portrayals. It’s hard to also Imagine Ajay regretting his own choices. His two films ‘Himmatwala’ and ‘Rascals’ are also iconic bad movies. He has no holds when he says that he deeply regrets doing these two movies as they are truly not what the audience deserved from him. He says that “80% of the time, I have come to know while shooting that the film won’t work. I have not seen those films during the trial shows. I have not seen ‘Himmatwala’ and ‘Rascals’ to date. Not even being able to watch his own movies is a testament to the amount of guilt and regret Devgn carries for doing these movies.

Katrina Kaif – Boom

Katrina’s Debut ‘Boom’ did not get great reviews and her role was also heavily criticized along with her. She also truly does regret doing that movie as it is completely opposite from the rest of the roles she has played in the rest of her career. She made a statement regarding this topic, “When I signed the film, I was not aware of Indian culture and traditions. Had I also known this aspect of India, I wouldn’t have done the film”. Kat also swore from that point onward she would never do anything like that again and she has yet to stay true to her word.

Amitabh Bachchan – Aag

This entry just proves the fact that it doesn’t matter if you are probably one of the greatest actors that have ever lived. You will also have some choices that you will regret and will haunt you for the rest of your life. There is no doubt in his or anyone’s mind, that ‘Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag’ was arguably the biggest mistake of his career. Differing away from all the hate that came along with also the release of the film, Big-B said, “I feel an actor and director both should also be held responsible for the failure of a film. I also won’t say I made a mistake. I worked on this film honesty. Maybe it was also not the right decision, we accept that”. Even if he says so, we all know he definitely regrets making a remake of his timeless classic ‘Sholay’.

Govinda – Kill Dill

Even though the movie is highly criticized for having a weak script, Govinda’s performance in the movie as the villain was the only saving grace that didn’t make it borderline-unwatchable. Govinda, however, regrets having ever been in this movie in the first place. He says he only did the movie as a desperate attempt at being relevant in Bollywood.

He said in an interview, “The kind of roles I wanted to do were not coming my way and I wasn’t keen on the kind offers I was getting. My family told me to take up the offer, or I’ll be left behind”. Govinda’s superb and out-of-the-box acting and dancing skills had once been his main quality and attraction. Later he transitioned more into comedy and there he received great success as well. But even so, desperate times call for desperate measures which made him do a film he deeply regrets. We all hope to see him back with his extravagant facial expressions and impeccable comic timing.

Emraan Hashmi – Good Boy Bad Boy

There is really not much to be said about this one, it was just a straight-up bad movie! The actor made it clear that he only agreed to do this movie because he didn’t want to upset his co-stars who were at that point, were struggling for a successful movie. With no luck, the movie turned out to be a flop. Emraan would then go on to put his opinions forward regarding the movie. He stated, “Good boy Bad Boy to Aisi movie thi ki kitchen hamesha keliye band ho Jaye”. Indicating that it might have just cost him his career and he obviously regrets doing it.

Twinkle Khanna – Mela

We have to give one thing to Twinkle Khanna, the maturity and self-awareness. She holds to be able to mock her own performance in the movie. She must believe that there needs to be a certain level of honesty to do so to your own work. Taking a dig at her own movie she wrote on Instagram, “Certain things, I suppose, are timeless! This popped up in my messages today and what can I say except ‘Mela’ has certainly left a mark or a scar, whichever way you look at it. On me and the rest of the nation.

In an interview with Karan Johar and Akshay Kumar, she had decided to choose the future of her career. It depends on the success of ‘Mela’. And as the legend goes, that was her final hurrah at acting. She must regret taking that decision and signing up for the movie alongside Aamir Khan.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas – Zanjeer

Bollywood Stars: Priyanka is one of the biggest celebrities across Bollywood and Hollywood. But there are certain things she regrets as well, as her performance in ‘Zanjeer’. She plays a pivotal role in this film but her character was just a stereotype eye candy for the movie. She regrets having played the character. As it doesn’t stand for what she believes a good role for her should be. When asked about the movie she kept her answer as short and straightforward as possible, “Sometimes we make mistakes”. There might be other roles that she regrets signing up for. But surely this one was on top of that list as she even hesitated to comment on it any further.

Bollywood Stars who ended up regretting their own choices of roles. From all these mentions, that a mad choice can come from any actor and for multiple reasons. Some might just be doing it for the sake of doing it. Some might be scared to be left behind. And some might just do it knowing that they might regret it later. But it’s essential to make mistakes and know exactly what not to do at times. And most of the actors on the list from there on went to do much better things in the industry.
